Two Objectives
- to provide an opportunity for teacher education on gender equality including pedagogical aspects/approaches, culturally sensitive education, transformative learning and cultural diplomacy in the classroom, school and the community and
- to empower teachers to apply what they learn with competences in the design of lessons/initiatives/activities that engage students ages 6-10 years of age and the persons within their immediate background (household etc.).
This Work Package includes the design of the training module, testing it and, later in the project lifetime add to it:
- a Toolbox (WP3) that supports teachers to apply what they learn in the training module and
- narratives of beneficiaries who have used the Toolbox to design (and also tested) lessons/activities in the classroom and the school so that the training has resources of more relevance for future learners.
Results
- a fact finding DESK RESEARCH on obtaining scenarios in gender equality awareness, stereotyping, classroom and school dynamics, demographics around and within the schools and the partners and
- a TEACHER EDUCATION TRAINING MODULE on gender equality education for primary schools that will be tested with at least 70 learners including present and future educators and non teaching school staff.
The training module will be of between 18 to 20 hours equivalent to EQF Level 2 and it will be:
- designed and delivered mainly by CSI and UNIC on pedagogy and culturally sensitive education and by Synkoino Coop and LABA on cultural diplomacy in the school and in the community,
- available online on the platform/s of CSI and/or UNIC with recorded video lessons with some lessons in
lecture/presentation frontal format and some in workshop format,
- having lessons in workshop format that will be delivered and filmed during two rounds of training of participants from the partners to make the online course alive and dynamic,
- modular so that a teacher education provider can choose to deliver part in presence and part having learners follow the rest of the module online,
- providing for work-life balance of participants with lessons that are not too long, allowing time to finish the training hence the span of time allowed in the project timetable for the testing,
- closely linked with the Toolbox produced in Work Package 3 since the Toolbox enables teachers to put what they learn into practice and
- including beneficiaries' narratives about the use of the Toolbox to design lessons/initiatives/activities in cultural diplomacy on gender equality education in schools so that content is made more relevant through peer learning for learners during and beyond the project lifetime and partnership.
