WP3A1 Design of Toolbox

Toolbox comprising tools for design of lessons, checklists and directions to ensure cultural diplomacy orientation, precise learner/target group orientation, transformative learning, culturally sensitive education, quality and validation techniques.

A1 Design of Toolbox: result will be a set of tools and a manual for use aimed at helping educators in design and planning (and validation/follow up) published with a manual/directions for use. It will include templates, suggested paths, choice of methodologies, options to reach out to students or students and household etc. checklists to ensure adherence to ethical, cultural sensitivity and quality, peer engagement and students' awareness of their learning. The Toolbox will be published as a resource for the training module in WP2 and on the project website to ensure wide distribution.

The design A1, use A3 and testing A4 of the Toolbox are aimed at the empowerment of present and future teachers supporting them in the application cultural diplomacy in primary schools through experiential learning, activity based learning and other methodologies that engage students (first) and the persons in their immediate background (second but not of secondary importance). The empowerment will take place with the Toolbox:
1. tapping what teachers acquire in initial teacher education in pedagogy and methodologies,
2. bring in the transformative learning and cultural diplomacy approach on the subject,
3. ensuring quality and focus on areas such as culturally sensitive education, use of tools that enable further creativity and
4. securing autonomy because the Toolbox will contain templates, menus and check lists directing focus on learning objectives, desired impacts and ethics.

CSI and UNIC will lead the design of the Toolbox with partnership wide input especially from
- LABA, Synkoino and Idea Malta transferring experience in cultural diplomacy in their other joint projects and
- Platon and Idea Malta transferring experience in cultural diplomacy in their other projects with UNIC.
ValIda will play a key role in augmenting the numbers and level of engagement with the Community of Learning that will have been initiated in WP2 so that this can be:
- a platform for support of participants in all the activities of this WP,
- an opportunity and vehicle for monitoring of partners and participants engagement and
- a vehicle for sustainable action beyond the project lifetime and partnership towards the last 6 months in the project lifetime.

Participation

A1 Design of Toolbox
- CSI, UNIC, LABA and Synkoino 1 expert each in education, cultural diplomacy, culturally sensitive education and validation
- CSI and UNIC 1 technician each to publish Toolbox on their eLearning platform
- Idea Malta at least 1 technical developer of the digital version of the Toolbox for use by beneficiaries published on the CSI and/or UNIC platform/s and on project website
- All partners 1 person each to give at least 1 feedback on the Toolbox design and usability

A validation activity will be running horizontal throughout all these steps.
